Below is a brief Bio, that is soon to be updated!!
Singer / songwriter Tracey Read began performing live in her hometown Perth in 1995. Since then, she has released three albums and a 7” single, with album number four soon to be released.
Primarily a solo performer, Tracey has also toured Australia with backing band ‘The Jr Read Experience’ and been involved in numerous side projects including ‘Those Tiny Lights’ (with members of the Tucker Bs, O! and The Stickfigures), and more recently ‘Battles with Bears and Wolves’.
Tracey is a regular visitor to the east coast of Australia, having completed several national tours and shared the bill with the likes of Architecture in Helsinki, Sodastream, Art of Fighting, Tucker B’s, Sleepy Township, Purplene, Joe Pernice and Catpower. Tracey has been well received by radio in Australia - with airplay on JJJ, RRR, RTR, PBS, and 4ZZZ. Tracey’s 2002 album Everything is Real scored an “album of the week “slot to great acclaim on Melbourne’s RRR.
Mid 2005, Tracey toured the US for six weeks with ‘Boyracer’ and Mia Schoen (Sleepy Township / Huon), and recorded with ‘Possum Moods’ in their Arizona studio. Following the tour, Tracey spent some time in London recording her new album and performing shows. Tracey also played a small role in a new indie feature film, ‘The Plans of Man’, while she was in town, and provided music for inclusion on the soundtrack.
Tracey’s latest recordings see a new approach to her songs, resulting in a range of different sounds and styles. The sparse and simple production allows the essence of her songs to shine through in a way not heard before.
Tracey’s new album is due for release early-mid 2006 with a promotional tour to follow.![]() |
